Chelsea falls in FA Cup, overtaken by Brighton 2-1

Chelsea have been eliminated from the FA Cup after Brighton came from behind to beat them 2-1 in their fourth-round tie on Saturday.

Chelsea got the first greeting in the first 4 minutes from the moment Jadon Sancho received the ball. And set it up for Cole Palmer to immediately shoot. With his left foot from in front of the penalty area. Bart Verbruggen had to slap it over the bar. And from the moment of the corner kick. Cole Palmer had the chance to slam the ball from the left into the middle. Verbruggen misjudged the timing and slapped the ball into his own goal. The away team therefore led 1-0.

However, Brighton quickly equalised 1-1 six minutes later. When Joel Veltman chipped in from the right into the box for Jorginho Rutter to head home from the spot.

The game was then fairly even and tense. With Chelsea having to wait until the 31st minute for another chance when Christopher Nkunku passe to Cole Palmer who headed the ball over the bar.

Brighton took a 2-1 lead in the 57th minute, Chelsea failed to clear the ball. Jorginho Rutter got a good pass to Kaoru Mitoma who chested it down. Before following it up and poking past Robert Sanchez.

71′ Brighton had another chance from Kaoru Mitoma who took a long shot from outside the penalty area. The ball went into the frame but is save by Robert Sanchez. 

Chelsea hit back three minutes later, with Marc Cucurella feeding Cole Palmer. Who fired a left-footed shot from inside the box that was wide. 

In the remaining time, Chelsea could not accelerate and could not equalize. So Brighton won 2-1 and advanced to the next round. Chelsea was eliminated.
